CHARACTERISTICS OF NORWEGIAN OLDER ADULTS LIVING ALONE OVER THREE DECADES (1995–2019)

Abstract Introduction Among older adults who are living alone, social isolation, and physical cognitive impairment more common than among those do not live alone. The proportion of alone is expected to increase further. current study investigated the disability formal care service use between 1995-2016 in Norway. Methods A total 31,263 people aged 70+ participated Trøndelag Health Study (HUNT) survey 2 (1995/97), 3 (2006/08), 4 (2017/19). assessed including practical help (PH) home nursing (HN), personal instrumental activities daily (PADL:7 items IADL: 6 items). Results More 70% were women (74% HUNT2, 77% HUNT3, 71% HUNT4). PH decreased from 33.7% 18.6%, while HN increased 10.4% 16.4%. percentage PADL lived was similar (10.3% 9.1%) 1995-2019.
